According to one survey, the best time to have sex is about 30 minutes after you wake up. This is because energy levels are at their peak, and you’ve had a good night’s sleep so you can get into the bedroom and really let loose.

If you’re in your thirties, Dr Kelley advises having sex early – around 8:20am – to take advantage of the sun’s natural boost of testosterone. And if you’re in your forties, as the nights draw in earlier, you may want to start having sex earlier too – and plan on going to bed before midnight. This will give you a chance to experience sex during the most intense, orgasm-producing, phase of your cycle.


Despite the debate between night-owls and early birds, there is actually no one best time to have sex. So, while the afternoon may be an untapped hotspot for sex, it’s definitely worth trying out, especially if you’re an orgasm-obsessed couple. But remember to not overdo it – having sex too many times a day can reduce healthy sperm counts. Instead, aim for sex three to four times a week.
